Meet our dedicated team members and their unique stories.
Originally from Glasgow, AJ - Aileen Hendry - brings a lively mix of music, conversation and personality to Monster Radio.
Her radio journey began when she was asked to cover a show for former Monster presenter Spencer Locke. After that, she was offered her own Sunday show by Dick Knowles - and she has been making herself at home on the airwaves ever since.
AJ hosts three shows across the week: The Perfect Storm with AJ on Mondays from 5pm to 7pm, Sailing Into Midnight with AJ on Wednesdays from 10pm to midnight, and The Sunday Banter Show from 3pm.
Her music taste is wonderfully varied, stretching from Sinatra and Nat King Cole through to Paolo Nutini, Tom Walker, David Bowie, Elton John, Simon & Garfunkel, Billy Idol, Neil Young, Blue Nile, Simple Minds, Lewis Capaldi and Ed Sheeran. Expect a broad, feel-good soundtrack with plenty of favourites from across the decades.
Chatty, opinionated and witty - at least some of the time - AJ loves meeting fascinating guests, sharing music she enjoys and keeping listeners up to date with current affairs, magazine stories and the topics everyone is talking about.
Away from the studio, AJ has worked as a stand-up comedian and once helped set up a comedy club. She was also part of a team that persuaded a local Glasgow radio station to let one of their 75-year-old colleagues perform “Sex on the Beach” on air - apparently to hilarious effect.
Her guaranteed good-mood track is “Kooks” by David Bowie.
