Originally from Battersea in South London, Jono - John James - brings laid-back charm, foot-tapping music and a big smile to Monster Radio.
His radio journey began during Covid, when Sunny Blue asked him to cover a fortnightly show. What started as a short-term slot lasted around a year and a half - and eventually led to Jono taking the mic solo.
Catch Jono’s Half Hour on Monday nights from 7pm to 9pm, and look out for his monthly Sunday Breakfast Show appearances alongside Sally Walker.
Jono’s musical taste is broad, eclectic and full of character. His influences range from ELO, David Bowie, The Beatles and The Band to Tame Impala, Radiohead, Nick Drake, Velvet Underground, Andrew Bird, Manchester Orchestra, Beck, Interpol and Mac Rabin. Expect a playlist with classic favourites, indie gems and plenty of discoveries along the way.
For Jono, the best part of radio is the buzz of every show - especially when welcoming guest presenters into the studio. His approach is relaxed, upbeat and always focused on making listeners smile.
Away from the studio, Jono says his wife is usually the one who makes the decisions - which suits him just fine.
