MR. T
Meet our dedicated team members and their unique stories.
Born in South London, Mr. T - John Towers - has been getting people moving to great music for decades. He began as a mobile DJ in and around London in 1970, before retiring in 2002. Thankfully, retirement did not last forever: he joined Monster Radio in October 2017 and has been bringing his trademark energy to the station ever since.
Mr. T hosts a packed schedule of shows, including the Swinging 60s on Tuesdays from 5pm to 7pm, Aires & Pairs on Thursdays from 5pm to 7pm, and the Breakfast Show on Saturdays from 8am to 11am. He is also always ready to cover when needed.
His musical philosophy is simple: anything you can dance to is a winner. While he enjoys all kinds of music and can turn his hand to every style of show, he has a particular soft spot for soul - and for any track that gets listeners up and moving.
Happy, jolly, bouncy and full of energy, Mr. T loves entertaining people and making them smile through music. He especially enjoys outside broadcasts, where he can see the audience, chat with listeners and share the atmosphere in person.
Away from the studio, dancing is never far away - although he leaves it to the listeners to decide whether he is actually any good!
Ask him to pick one song that puts him in a good mood and he will struggle: there are simply too many. But when he knows people are dancing, that is when the magic happens. One favourite is “Sandstorm” by Darude.
